Epsons are inexpensive, portable, color printers that produce high-quality color pictures. They are distributed to Wellesley staff and faculty who need to make color printouts without the use of expensive, bulky printers. Most people who have an Epson printer have either the Epson Stylus Color 740 or the Epson Stylus Color 740i, but there are also the newer Epson EPL-5700i's as well as some older Epson 800s on-campus. Many of these older printers are being replaced by the 740 series and the EPL-5700i's.

NEW RESET DEVICE BREAKS EPSON'S

Cartridge rechargers and printer owners can now refill Epson's "smart chipped" ink jet
cartridges and then reset the chip to read "full" in six seconds using a new resetting device from Repeat-O-Type Manufacturing Corporation (Wayne, New Jersey).

In the past several years, printer manufacturers have attempted to thwart refilled and compatible cartridges from entering the market by installing "smart chips" on their original ink cartridges. These chips prevent the cartridge from functioning after the initial ink supply is depleted. This practice has kept the price of printing high by locking out refill kits and aftermarket cartridges. Hasil Cetak Epson Stylus Photo 2000P Tahan Hingga Seratus Tahun

Epson Stylus C90

Epson meluncurkan 3 printer baru.2 diantaranya ditujukan untuk level entri dengan harga yang terjangkau. Kedua printer itu adalah Epson Stylus C90 dan Epson Stylus CX5500. Printer satunya adalah printer foto dengan kemampuan mencetak di kertas A3+, yakni Epson Stylus Photo 1390

C90 dan CX5500 menggunakan teknology Micro-Piezo dan Variable Sized Droplet. Kombinasi kedua teknologi print head ini menghasilkan resolusi 5760 titik per inci. C90 dan CX5500 adalah inkjet dengan resolusi tertinggi. Epson juga melakukan perubahan motorik sehingga bisa mencetak lebih cepat. C90 dan CX5500 bisa mencetak 25 halaman teks hitam putih per menit.

Epson juga melengkapi printer barunya dengan teknologi tinta DURABrite Ultra khusus yang dikembangkan agar hasil cetak tidak cepat pudar meskipun terkena air. Hasilnya tidak mengecewakan. Pada saat demonstrasi, foto yang dicetak dikertas bisa dicelupkan ke dalam air. Tinta foto yang dicelupkan tidak luntur, meskipun foto sudah kurang lebih 30 menit berada di dalam air.

Printer foto yang juga diluncurkan Epson, yakni Epson Stylus Photo 1390 ditujukan untuk fotografer amatir. 1390 memiliki resolusi maksimum 5760x1440 per inci. Kecepatan mencetak diklaim amat cepat. Pencetakan foto di atas kertas A3 glossy membutuhkan waktu 173 detik, jadi lebih cepat 250% dari printer printer yang diluncurkan sebelumnya.
